Our Lady's College, Greenhill, Drogheda 

Our Lady’s College is an all-girls Catholic school founded by the Presentation Sisters in 1940 which is now under the trusteeship of CEIST. This year is a special year as we celebrate 75 years on this site. The school was founded by the Presentation sisters who came to Drogheda in 1813. The school aims to provide a wide ranging educational experience where students are encouraged to learn and develop new skills. We are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment that is centered on teaching and learning.

Art History - Impressionism

Aim: To analyse an artwork  of different Impressionist artists using the AEDP, artistic process, context  and subject matter as content for analysis using the leaving certificate art history exam question framework. 

Learning outcomes for unit of learning:

  • recognise an art style and identify relevant features

  • use critical and visual language to describe an artwork

  • explain how context and period influence artistic thinking

  • Illustrate sources of information through annotated sketches

  • To develop an understanding of the context in which these works were created.

Practical - Collage and Painting

Aim:To experiment with shape, colour, line and texture and explore the theme "out of the ordinary" to create an A3 collage.

Learning outcomes for unit of learning

At the end of this Unit of Learning Students should be able to...

1.1analyse their work, or that of another, using appropriate vocabulary and knowledge

1.6 - Use drawings to communicate their personal outlook or understanding.

1.10 - Identify the use of art elements and design principles in their own artwork.

1.13 - Identify media which are used to create artwork.

2.6 investigate their own personal approach to craftwork through the technical and creative application of drawing and mark-making

Practical - Printmaking

Aim:To create a series of different types of print- monoprints, collagraphs  focusing on the Art elements/ design principles of line, shape, texture under the theme of insects in our environment.

Learning outcomes for unit of learning:

At the end of this Unit of Learning Students should be able to.. 

2.14 - Use media to create craftwork
